Foum Zguid

Foum Zguid is a city located south of the Anti-Atlas in the mountains of Jebel Bani. The municipality is attached to the province of Tata and is about 135 km north of the latter and 170 km south of the city of Ouarzazate. It consists of 16 villages named: Tabia, Boudlal, Bouguir, Ummhanch, Igranassouk, Tamzaouroute, Wagrout, Wayftout, M'hamid, Amzrou, Lghwanem, Elmahrouk, Ouladboukdir, Oulad Jamaa, Oulad Hammou and Smira. The city stretches along the palm grove of the Tamantt River, a tributary of the Draa.

Iriki National Park

Iriki National Park which lies between the Draa River and the foothills of the south Anti-Atlas near the Algerian border, 150 km south of Ouazazate and 80 km southwest of Zagora. This lake is nowadays mostly dry. It was the favorite place of southern gazelles. The park consists of desert landscapes. The vegetation is characterized by a wooded steppe and acacia savanna. In wet periods (October, November, December), Lake Iriki is a stopover and wintering place for many migratory birds such as flamingos and geese.


You leave your bivouac in the morning and discover the ocher tracks of the desert to reach Lake Iriki, in the middle of the national park of the same name. Today dry, it was once the natural habitat of a rich and wild wildlife: gazelles, ducks, gulls, flamingos ... You spend the rest of the day discovering Foum Zguid and its surroundings, at the gates of the border with Algeria.

Day 1 - Meeting in Foum Zguid

Meeting in Foum Zguid, then you will spend your first day in a luxury Bivouac, with local Bedouins  we quit Foum Zguid Park, your car on TR2 the Bivouac.




Day 2 - Guest House Zaouia

After the breakfast, we leave Foum Zguid by camels to the Guest House Zaouia, then we cross the lac of Iriki to North, to the Oasis of Zaouia. We visit the Old Ksar Sidi Abd Enabi, then we visit the Tomb of the father of the tribe



Day 3 - Explore local fossils

We will enjoy sumptuous landscapes such as Lake Iriqui, the passage of the beautiful mountains. You will have the opportunity to collect fossils and complete your collection! We will have lunch in the first village. Then we will go back to Foum Zguid in the afternoon.

? Tizi n'Tichka Pass

Tizi n'Tichka is a mountain pass in Morocco, linking the south-east of Marrakesh to the city of Ouarzazate through the High Atlas mountains. It lies between the great Marrakech Plains and the gateway of the Sahara Desert. From November - March, snow can often fall on the pass, but it can be warm all year round in the strong sun. It reaches an elevation of 2,260 m above the sea level and is the highest major mountain pass of North Africa. The road was constructed by the French military in 1936, and is now part of National Route 9 in Morocco.

? Telouet

Telouet is a Kasbah along the former route of the caravans from the Sahara over the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech. It lies at an elevation of 1,800 metres (5,900 ft) and was the seat of the El Glaoui family's power. The palace can still be visited but it is steadily becoming more damaged and is slowly collapsing. In 2010, work was underway to restore the property
